A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a nursing home and hospital for allowing a patient to develop severe pressure ulcers, leading to sepsis and ultimately his death. The patient first developed the pressure ulcers in the hospital within one week. The patient was then transferred to a nursing home with a shortage of staff that did not have the ability to properly provide care to treat the pressure sores.
The lawsuit states that the neglect led to “disfigurement, pressure sores, infection, conscious pain and suffering, and his death”. The family is seeking a jury trial to award damages for medical expenses incurred, pain, suffering and death. For more, read the story.
