Jury Finds Nursing Home Grossly Negligent, Awards $450,000

A jury found a nursing home which permitted its patient to fall 26 times guilty of gross negligence in his death.  In addition to the falls, one of which required a hip replacement, the facility permitted the man to develop bed sores.  He was not properly fed, and also developed pneumonia, which was not timely treated.

State Considers Law Allowing Cameras In Nursing Home Rooms

Louisiana lawmakers are considering a bill to allow video cameras in nursing home rooms. They heard testimony from a woman whose mother experienced mutliple injuries while in a nursing home's care, including a black eye, severe back pain and a compression fracture.
