Three nursing home employees have been charged with negligence of patients under their care at a nursing home. Two of the employees acted together to choke a patient according to the allegations. The same employees also pulled the hair of the patient and bent his leg back to his head. The other nursing home employee is accused of failure to report allegations of the nursing staff upon observation of the events that transpired.

A nursing home has been cited for putting patients at risk after leaving dementia patients and smoking patients unattended. The patients with dementia were left in a break room near two heaters with potentials for causing burns. The patients that were smoking were left unattended outdoors and in unsafe places for smoking that could have caused danger to others due to potential fire hazards.Patients that smoked had burn marks on their hands and clothes.

Nursing home patients are showing red flags of abuse as nursing home employees are being investigated for their behavior towards patients in the home. A nursing home has been accused of abuse following the development of pressure ulcers or bed sores on a patient. The patient alleges the sores could have been avoided. The patient experienced pain as a result of the bed sores while recovering from triple-bypass surgery. A lawsuit has been filed for damages alleging the nursing home did not provide adequate care or take proper precautions to prevent the bed sores.

A nursing home pageant was held among 11 nursing homes to crown a queen for this year. The pageant is held annually and takes into account personality, career before retirement, and attitude. The pageant is an activity service provided to the nursing home residents of that area. “They’ve been doing it at least 40 to 50 years, since the 1960s or 1970s,” said the organizer.
