Nursing Home Veteran Comes Home For Holidays
A veteran and nursing home patient was able to come home for the holidays after volunteers built a ramp for his house. The nursing home required the ramp and the commercial cost would have been $4,000- $5,000. However, the volunteers were able to build the ramp for $500 at no cost to the veteran. “He had been sick after a heart attack and stroke and had been receiving rehab and nursing care,” said a volunteer.

Nursing home patients received gifts from a local hospital to ensure everyone received something for Christmas. Hospital staff collectively provide presents for patients. A group of the employees gather and hand out the presents every year. This year 106 gifts were passed out to patients.
