A veteran and nursing home patient was able to come home for the holidays after volunteers built a ramp for his house. The nursing home required the ramp and the commercial cost would have been $4,000- $5,000. However, the volunteers were able to build the ramp for $500 at no cost to the veteran. “He had been sick after a heart attack and stroke and had been receiving rehab and nursing care,” said a volunteer.

Nursing home patients received gifts from a local hospital to ensure everyone received something for Christmas. Hospital staff collectively provide presents for patients. A group of the employees gather and hand out the presents every year. This year 106 gifts were passed out to patients.

 A nursing home employee has been charged with theft after stealing credit cards from patients. The employee charged more than $1,000 to the credit cards. She is now facing charges for a third-degree felony of credit/debit card abuse.

Former nursing home employees are alleging they were fired for refusing to follow orders to falsify records. The nursing home wanted to cover up incidents of patient abuse. The nursing home employees were not willing to participate in the cover-up.”There was no structure.

A nursing home facility that has been ranked with one star has constant emergencies. Patients have called 911 with nurses taking the phone from their hands saying the patients are crying wolf. However, the nursing home had a carbon monoxide leak that put 10 patients in the hospital. Health inspectors have surveyed the facility and cited multiple violations.

A nursing home worker pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony of patient abuse. The female patient had tears in her clothes and injuries. A bloody pillowcase was also located in her room.
