A nursing home has been fined $90,000 following the death of a patient at its facility. The patient collapsed during a physical therapy session. The staff failed to follow protocol to save the patient’s life when he went into cardiac arrest.

In one state, nursing home facilities are accused of not providing proper care for mentally disabled patients. These patients are not receiving medical care at the level required or are being abused due to their mental state. One patient was allowed to die in one nursing home after receiving a brain injury in a car accident.
Nursing Home Cited For Numerous Wheelchair Incidents
A nursing home has been cited for multiple wheelchair incidents where patients either fell from their wheelchairs or rolled away in them. one incident involved a man in a van that flipped out and hit his head while riding in a van. The driver was pulling away from a stop sign. Another incident involved a woman who fell out four times in two months.
Nursing Home Patient Allowed To Die Without Proper Care
Patients in nursing homes at risk for bed sores or pressure ulcers should be provided with proactive care to prevent pressure ulcers and bed sores. The treatment involves consistent and frequent turning and repositioning to shift weight to different areas of the patient’s body. When this does not occur a pressure ulcer can develop and deteriorate quickly. If a patient develops a pressure ulcer, the sore should be treated properly.
Nursing Home Caregiver Sentenced To 18 Years For Murder Of Patient
A caregiver received an 18 year sentence for stuffing paper towels into the pressure ulcers of a patient. Medical professionals said it is “one of the worst cases of neglect they have seen.” The patient was sent to the hospital after the paper towels were jammed in the wounds.The caregiver's ex-wife had licensed the caregiver's home to care for patients. The caregiver received the high-end sentence for murder and was the first case tried for murder since 2012.
Nursing Home Patient Removed From Facility For Abuse
A nursing home patient living in a nursing home for three years has been removed from the facility after sexually abusing another patient. The patient performing the sex act was known for fondling the nursing home staff and his own body. However, he was still allowed to abuse another patient while at the facility. Police are pressing charges against the patient, who they say is fully in his right mind.
