Judge Denies Dismissal Of Nursing Home Lawsuit
A judge has declined to dismiss a nursing home lawsuit citing inadequate care in multiple nursing homes under a nursing home chain ownership. The case has been launched by the state's attorney general alleging that low staffing ratios are the main culprit for lack of care. The nursing home chain attempted to have the case dismissed.The judge did not budge on the lawsuit and is allowing the prosecutors to move forward in trying the case.

The family member of a loved one has filed a lawsuit against a nursing home for wrongful death due to negligence of care. The patient was allowed to wander from the nursing home where she resided and her absence was not discovered until the following morning. The nursing home failed to notice she was missing all through the night. The patient froze to death before she was found by a search party the following day 2/10 of a mile away outside a private residence.

Nursing Home Worker Injures Patient While Intoxicated
A nursing home caregiver pleaded guilty to abuse and neglect and being sentenced to 12 months, but was ultimately given 24 months probation. The certified nursing assistant arrived at work intoxicated. A patient’s arm was injured under the circumstances. The nursing home worker was indicted for one count of reckless adult abuse and neglect. The caregiver will appear before a grand jury in the coming months.
